Brussels – On 2 April, US President Donald Trump imposed “reciprocal tariffs” on nearly 200 countries around the world, starting with a minimum 10% tariff, with additional tariffs imposed on around 60 countries.
The new US tariffs will affect other European countries in varying degrees. The EU has been subjected to 20% tariffs on all exports to the US.
Among EU candidates and potential candidates, six countries will face the minimum 10% tariff threshold (Albania, Kosovo, Georgia, Montenegro, Turkey, and Ukraine). The situation is different for the other four: Moldova (31%), North Macedonia (33%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (35%), and Serbia (37%).
The minimum 10% tariff applies to nearly all European countries that are EU partners but not part of the accession process, including the UK, Iceland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, San Marino and Monaco. The exceptions are Switzerland (31%) and Norway (15%).
Notably absent from the list are Greenland, Russia and Belarus.
